A person with his own business enjoys more financial independence and greater control on his financial status. But to succeed in any venture, it is important for anyone to visualize first his goals, business structure to follow, and other related details before proceeding to his business. Three Basic Types of Business Entities
The first thing an entrepreneur should decide is what type of business entity he wants to adopt before he starts the application for Singapore business registration.
Is it sole proprietorship in which he would be the only owner and will enjoy full control? Is it partnership in which he can have up to 20 business partners which means more funding? Or is it private limited company (or corporation) in which his business will enjoy perpetual existence while his personal assets are protected from the debts and losses of his company?
Every business entity has its own pros and cons which must be greatly considered. However, most experts agree that a private limited company is the most ideal for entrepreneurs with a long-term goal for their business as this setup will allow them to enjoy protection of asset, attractive corporate incentives, and other benefits.
The Products and Services
Bonafide entrepreneurs have always associated their products and services to their target-market so they can estimate the amount of capital they will need, equipment and materials to be purchased, and the level of quality they should offer.
Meanwhile, these questions can guide budding entrepreneurs on deciding on what products or services they should offer: What are my niche skills and interests that can generate profit? What is the estimated profit of my product? Can it be easily sold? It is easy to produce? Does it have an existing target-market?
Competitive and Market Analysis
One of the most important things any entrepreneurs should do is examine the business environment which includes the existing competition, different types of consumers, media, social norms, and other factors which can have a direct and indirect impact on their business.
When conducting competitive analysis, most experts agree that these four factors should be the main focus of entrepreneurs: who are the direct and indirect competitors, the specific market of competitors, the number of years they have been operating, and how do they attract their target-market.
Operations of a Business
Operations usually include the location, how many employees a certain business will need, the equipment, machinery, suppliers, materials, ways to track inventory and sales, and other related-issues.
When we talk of management education, we are basically referring to shaping up the students, aimed towards developing their competency and capability either as a manager fit to join an organization and help it to grow or as entrepreneur, to establish and grow ones own business. This capability does not come from possessing a management diploma or degree, but also requires developing in the students the will and skill to contribute for self sustenance and nation building. Presently it is seen, that there is a wide gap existing between the type of management education imparted in MBA colleges and what is there in real life management in business organizations. In order to make management education more realistic and useful for the industry, certain key areas need to be identified. These could be:-
(a)Benchmarking quality management education to create an enduring quality managers and entrepreneurs.
(b)Bring in professionalism in management education.
(c)Adequacy of qualified and competent faculty members, proper infrastructure, support facilities and regular updating of curriculum.
Benchmarking Quality Management Education
Benchmarking with the top management colleges inspires an institute to produce quality managers. Management education needs to include knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA) that are needed today and that will be needed tomorrow by the industry. The mission of management education should be to become innovative and creative. The objectives of benchmarking should be to:-
Make own students employable in industry.
Moving the institute from academic mode to corporate mode. To achieve these objectives the agenda should be:- (a) To identify the industry expectations of the skill sets required of students. (b)To identify the areas of Total Quality Management (TQM) in management education. (c) To identify the changes required in teachers imparting management education.
Professionalism in MBA/PGDM Education
There are many reasons for the wide differences in the quality of management education in different institutes in India. The main reason is the absence of a body that can ensure that the standards set are practiced and retained by all management institutes, like AACSB in USA. We do have an apex body the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), that is responsible for setting the basic framework, guidelines and standards for quality of business education, there are however many problems when it comes implementation of these standard by MBA colleges and institutes and these problems undermine the effectiveness of these standards. In order install quality in management education in India, the AICTE and MBA colleges / universities in the country should focus on the following issues:-
Quality of faculty.
Accountability of management institutes.
Values and ethics.
Role of professional bodies (AIMA, ISTD, etc).
Its summer and so for that reason Ill break from my insistence on pragmatic advice and write on a topic you might consider fluff. Yet its the biggest mistake I see small business owners make, including me. We have no patience. I think that its a given that a requirement for being an entrepreneur is to have a low grade case of ADD, or in my case, ADHD with an emphasis on the H. And in marketing, that will kill you.
I cant tell you how many times a client tries something and when there are no immediate results says “Well that doesnt work.” Its like lifting weights one day and expecting that tricep cut to develop overnight. Im not suggesting that we all go out and spend a bajillion dollars on advertising during American Idol. But I do think that in order for your PR and marketing tactics to work you have to learn to wait a bit. Here are a few tips to use to figure out if youre too impatient.
1. Are you measuring your campaign results by the number of orders youre getting off each initiative? In a word, DONT. Look at your website hits instead, or the traffic in your store. Whats the first step toward buying your product or service? Do they request a brochure? Do they visit the website? Measure by those “first steps” in the short term.
2. Are you changing your marketing strategy on a weekly or monthly basis? WRONG. You had better have confidence in your strategy (or your consultant) from the start. Nothing works if you dont believe in it 100% from the beginning. Switching around what youre doing on a constant basis and youll end up running circles.
3. Are you relying on only one outreach method? It may work now, but it will stop working eventually. Or youll end up trying one thing after another. BLEND your messaging channels. If youre doing radio, connect it to an online promotion as well. Trying guerilla marketing? Make sure youve got some PR working in conjunction with those “on the ground” techniques.
Particularly in the online world, patience is the key to success. Jay Conrad Levinson, the founder of Guerilla Marketing, believes that patience is the most important characteristic of successful entrepreneurs. Be confident in your approach. Measure it wisely. And then, like that old farmer in the field, be patient and watch the seeds of your marketing work grow.

Five Power Principles Successful Entrepreneurs Know And Use To Create Immense Wealth.
#1 Process Comes Before Outcomes.
No field of human endeavour is completely isolated from all others. Parallels arise in sports from which wealth creators can learn interesting things.
Take this principle of focussing on process before outcome to build your financial freedom. Whilst not wishing to compare boxers of different eras or weight divisions, it is true to say that over the years a few proud men stand far above their peers as successful boxers. What such men have is a true gladiatorial spirit. They are all possessed of a passion for what they call ring craft The art of the ring.
These sportsmen become very wealthy, not because of focussing on the money but rather by concentrating on the process of perfecting their ring craft and survival skills inside the ropes. In return, they reap the rewards of huge pay days and corresponding wealth.
#2 Prove Your Business Idea Early On.
Entrepreneurs, who want a proven and successful wealth creating process, need to follow a critical sequence of events.
Proof of concept starts when you identify a market opportunity, gap or niche.
Design the products and services with which to fill the identified market gap.
Test drive the products to ensure they are “fit for market purpose.”
The proof stage should be a small scale preview of the main show. This is where you test ideas before spending a fortune and then finding out it does not fly.
#3 Expand Your Business.
If your idea fails even one of the proof of concept phases ditch the idea. If however, it passes all three stages then you are ready to expand your wealth creating machine. Business expansion is not the same as overstretching your resources. It is a planned process.
You can expand your business vertically or horizontally. The former involves growing the business in its “core” sector. The latter involves growing your wealth creating machine by diversification into other sectors.
Within each of these growth models, two critical sub processes are at work. Both rely on building effective human relationships. On the one hand, you must build and maintain harmonious customer service and customer relationships. On the other hand, you must engage effectively with your employees.
#4 Give The Customer What The Customer Wants.
Trying to lead the market carries the huge danger that your products and services may have no market credibility and worse no commercial viability. The marketplace simply ignores your solutions.
The issue here is, “Do you invent first and market second, or do you find the market need first and then develop a solution?”
You should find the market need or gap first and then plug the gap with your product or service.
Your wealth creating machine must adapt and be alive to changing market conditions and needs. “Inventing a wheel” is a once in a lifetime affair best left to a few very creative individuals.
Everyone dreams. But only the truly exceptional possess the dedication and creativity to turns those dreams into a reality. Such truly exceptional people are known as entrepreneurs. These people introduce a radical new idea into the pool of over-used and copy pasted notions. Entrepreneurs are the architects of the constantly changing and improving society.
What makes an entrepreneur?
This is a question everyone has thought of when watching the success of well known entrepreneurs like DhirubaiAmbani, Bill gates, Narayan murthy etc. Passion, creativity, imagination, innovation and an unrelenting drive to succeed are the qualities that set an entrepreneur aside from the rest of the crowd. Out of the box thinking and a sense of showmanship goes a long way in todays competitive market.
Budding entrepreneurs must possess the tenacity to succeed no matter what the harsh world might throw at them. A strong sense of self respect, confidence and good principles cultivated from an early age is a very important factor that influences the thought process of any entrepreneur. The tendency to conform to societys norms is automatic. Any person wishing to climb the ladder of success as an entrepreneur has to break free of this tendency and have the ability to look at things from different perspective. One of the most important aspects of an entrepreneurs success is the idea. This little four letter word is the cornerstone and the motivation for any venture. In order for any venture to reach its full potential, you must believe in the idea 100%. Any job half done is a waste of both time and effort. Plan well and assemble a trusted team to help you. More minds thinking on the same idea helps hone it to a perfect shape.
Risk Taking is Important Too
But one cannot ignore the very high risk factor. The chances of failure are ever present. Think with a practical mind. Take into consideration all the factors of your life that may be affected by what you choose to pursue and whether you can afford the risk. Your wallet is most likely the spot most affected. Be sure to think before you invest.
Any entrepreneur who is revered in his field can tell you: There is no formula for success. Success is three parts hard work and one part chance. A life as an entrepreneur is alluring and exciting. A true entrepreneur has the all-consuming desire to see their dreams turn to reality and is bold enough to push the limits of human potential could bring about unprecedented changes in the society. That person could be you!
Modern world is full of temptations and other entertainments that cost much. It became a tradition that children want to become businessmen or entrepreneurs. The dreams of becoming a spacemen do not bother children any more. The desire to have everything and to be able to afford different things make children think about more profitable occupations. Some students, when grow up, change their minds and think about something more realistic, the others still continue dreaming of becoming entrepreneurs. The article is going to represent some advantages and disadvantage connected to the profession. Use arguments to support your choice.
Advantages of becoming an entrepreneur
1.Those who decided to become entrepreneurs are sure to enjoy the whole process, from the very beginning of their business till the highest level of its development. The prediction of risks and their successful elimination is a real delight.
2.The entrepreneurs salary directly depends on his/her intentions. If one wants to get more this month, he/she should work harder.
3.The working schedule of entrepreneurs is flexible. They may easily take a day off in the middle of the week without the moral pressure of being fired. Still, the consequences of such action should be considered beforehand.
Disadvantages of becoming an entrepreneur
1.The entrepreneur does not have a regular salary. The income may be considerable this month, but it may be too low another one. It is impossible to calculate some unpredicted costs.
2.The flexible working schedule is also a disadvantage. The necessity to work till night may be rather stressing.
3.Entrepreneurs are personally charged with the consequences of their actions. One wrong step and the whole business may be ruined.
It is exciting to be an important person in business, to have personal company and run it. Still, there are some cases when this independence may cost too much.
There are three business arrangements in Singapore that have been specifically created for foreign entrepreneurs and business entities planning to have a presence in the country: a subsidiary company, branch office, and representative office.
These are the basic differences between these business entities for foreign entrepreneurs and investors:
1. Subsidiary company
This is probably the most ideal business entity for foreign companies planning to form a Singapore company or expand their presence in the country. This is because this formation provides countless of benefits especially when it comes to tax incentives and limited liability.
As a separate legal entity from its parent company, a subsidiary company may have a different name and is allowed to conduct any business activities in the country as long as these are legal.
A foreign company with a subsidiary company enjoys a limited liability, an arrangement in which it is not liable for any losses, liabilities, and debts of its Singapore auxiliary business.
And because a subsidiary company is incorporated in Singapore, it also enjoys local tax benefits even if it is 100 percent owned by foreign businessmen and entities.
However, this business setup is required to appoint at least one resident director who may be a Singaporean citizen or holder of EntrePass, Employment Pass, or Permanent Residence Status.
Meawhile, a subsidiary company may have one to 50 shareholders who may be a foreign or local individual or another business entity. To know more abour subsiday company follow this link:
2. Branch office
A branch office, being an extension of its business headquarter, is only allowed to conduct activities performed by its parent company.
Unlike a subsidiary company, a branch office is not provided with local tax benefits since it is treated as a legal extension of its parent company. And with this arrangement, the headquarter is directly liable for all the losses, debts, and liabilities of its Singapore branch office.
Meanwhile, it is a legal requirement for a branch office to hire two Singaporean resident agents who will oversee its business operation.
When it comes to government-imposed disclosure requirements, this business entity may not be appealing for some shareholders since they are also required to submit the audited accounts of their parent company. To know more about branch office, follow this link:
3. Representative office
Legally speaking, a representative office is not really a business entity as it is not allowed to engage in any revenue-generating activities.
A representative office is generally ideal for foreign companies who are not yet sure of the business viability of their services or goods in Singapore and want to conduct an extensive market research before engaging in a full-blown operation. Food joints are loved by all and have an ever rising demand if quality is not compromised. You may choose to start up with a couple of offerings like beverages and snacks and later on tread into being a bakery and concessionary shop.
Perhaps the easiest of all food joint-offerings is beverages. Scores of soft drink concentrates are available to choose from. Invigorating roasted cumin concentrate is a delight in the scorching summers. Fruit flavored soft drinks garnished well not only quench the thirsty throat but also sooth the sore eyes. All you have to do is mix them up in the right quality and serve!
Instant fruit drink powder is a wonderful piece in your kitchen. Blend it with seasonal fruits or canned fruits, garnish it well and serve to quench the thirst of your clients. Canned fruit pulp is another option for beverage. Add the right amount of water or milk and you have a thick shake to serve. If the location of your food joint is blessed with plenty of seasonal fruits then serving fresh juices would prove to be more cost effective. Having the fruit juice extraction machine in an open space where the clients can see their glass being filled will be admired by them. This will demonstrate them of your hygiene standards and quality.
Flavored milk shakes are another popular offering at food joints. Chocolate and strawberry are the most common ones. You can try lots of new flavors by adding flavoring agents. Throw in some crushed nuts, fruit pieces or chocolate chunks to make new milk shake flavor each month.
Beverages are best served with crunchy wafers or biscuits. Bake them in-house or order them from a supplier simply make sure they are fresh. A platter of assorted biscuits coupled with a tasteful strawberry shake is the choice over a long conversation.
Jelly can be another interesting offering at your food joint. Just buy some jelly crystals and make jelly of distinctive shapes. Children will surely be fond of these jellies. Also jelly pieces can be mixed with milk shake for a fruity flavor.
